This is a fairly good sign for Obama, and one most people probably didn’t see coming – at least not this quickly:
The feminist icon whose writings inspired thousands of American women to a passionate support of Hillary Clinton said yesterday she was not at all crushed by Hillary’s loss and believes her race has “absolutely” been good for women. But she now not only supports Democratic nominee Barack Obama, she’ll volunteer for him, too.”I think she changed forever our understanding of the possibilities of leadership,” Gloria Steinem said of Hillary in a Herald interview after a morning appearance here. “She showed such courage in the face of a media that was trying constantly to get her out of the race and all the misogyny . . . She put up with that with grace. She enlarged my vision.”
Steinem also said she’d be happy in an America where Nancy Pelosi remains speaker of the House, Hillary runs the Senate and Barack Obama is president.

Race and Gender The Story of a Primary Season in Hell (as told by the cable tv pundits who created it)
Gene Shalit: ” A political ‘North and South’ for a post-modern era.” Chris Matthews : ”Canasta! Full House! Great White Shark!” Starring Gloria Swanson and Will Smith All HRT Denton had was her philandering ex-president husband, Big Buck Denton, once the most popular U.S. president of the 90’s. All Barry O’Sauna had was a handful of historical speeches and a membership in a church where they used the Wh—ty word.By the end of the primary season they would both have A REASON TO LIVE. Until O’Sauna, a handsome man of mixed racial and cutural background, emerged from the pack, HRT was the most electable democrat in the country. But when silver-tongued O’Sauna started speaking, HRT knew she and her hordes of scorned white women would have to fight—not just for votes, but for an end to being called “sweetie.” For O’Sauna—this race would test not only his gag-reflex, but his loyalties. The one question he would ask himself over and over again was, “Who do I kick under the bus next?” Meanwhile their party would stand around and suck its thumbs.
